Chamonix daytrip from Geneva itinerary – European Cityhopping Day 4

EasyBus tickets from Geneva to Chamonix and back (around 38 EUR per person).

unireso individual ticket x2 to get to Geneva airport & back (3 CHF per person, 1 hr validity)

09:05 AM – 09:23 AM: Thanks to a kind Swiss man, we got on the bus 5 to the Airport from Cornavin. Note that different airport bound buses leave from different bus stops in the vicinity of Cornavin and that bus 5 leaves just south of the tram station.

9:30 AM – 10:45 AM: Travel from Geneva Airport to Chamonix. We are very happy with our EasyBus experience, on time departures and arrivals, a comfortable minibus and professional drivers.

10:45 AM – 2:30 PM: A brief walk around town in the rain followed by a decent lunch at La Morane.

2:30 PM – 6 PM: Walk across town to catch the train to Mer de Glace (translates to sea of ice). The endpoint was a glacier with an additional gondola + walk taking us inside an ice cave. By far the highlight of our trip, we got lucky with the cloud cover lifting enough to see some spectacular views.

6 PM – 7:30PM: Souvenir shopping at La Trace and another walk through the charming village.

7:30 PM – 8:45 PM: Bus back to Geneva

We were hoping for the vast Alpine views that Chamonix is famous for but the weather played spoilsport. However the Mer de Glace was the perfect attraction that let us enjoy some of the scenery we hoped to see. Ideally you should visit Chamonix on a clear & sunny day (check webcams here).

Lovely photos. Spent a few weeks in the region and drove past Chamonix on the way. Shall be reading your blogs on Switzerland as I have been writing about it on my blog and it’s fun to compare and see the similarities. Truly a wonderful part of the world.

Thank you for the appreciation. We wish we had better weather in Chamonix but that is the bane of a traveller, you must stick to a plan if you just have a few days.

We’d love to read up on your Swiss posts as well, we just can’t get enough of the country! Thank you for taking the time to read & comment on our blog ❤
